Ocie S. Banks is an accomplished choral conductor and music educator. He is a proud alumnus of Prince George's County Public Schools where he currently serves as Director of Choirs & Voice at Thomas G. Pullen K–8 Creative & Performing Arts School in Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS). He previously taught at Samuel Ogle Middle School and Rosaryville Elementary School. Choirs under his direction consistently earn Superior Ratings.
Banks serves as the lead curriculum writer for middle school chorus, general music, and performing arts specialty school voice programs in PGCPS. He recently conducted the PGCPS Middle School All-County Honors Chorus.
He holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from George Mason University and a Master of Music with a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Choral Conducting from Messiah University.
He is actively involved in the choral music community, serving as President of the Maryland/DC Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), Member-At-Large of the Maryland Choral Educators Association (MCEA), and Eastern Region Representative on the NAfME Council for Choral Education.
Ocie is an active adjudicator, clinician, guest conductor, and worship leader. As CEO of OSB Music, LLC, he offers private instruction, vocal health workshops, and worship leader coaching, and more. Ocie is a passionate advocate for choral music at all levels and endeavors to always promote choral excellence in all that he does.
