Ocie S. Banks is a proud alumnus and product of Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) where he serves as the new Choral Director at Thomas G. Pullen K-8 Creative & Performing Arts School. Previously, he was the Choral Director at Samuel Ogle Middle School and the Vocal & General Music teacher at Rosaryville Elementary School. While at Ogle, the Samuel Ogle Singers received Superior Ratings at District Assessment and Excellent Ratings at the Maryland State Choral Festival. He serves as an Assistant Director for the PGCPS Middle School Honors Chorus and the lead middle school chorus and general music curriculum writer for PGCPS.
He received his Bachelor of Music in Music Education (BME) from George Mason University. He recently received his Master of Music and Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Choral Conducting from Messiah University. His Choral Music & conducting mentor is Dr. Lisa A. Billingham.
Ocie is an active member of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) and the National Association for Music Education. Ocie serves as the President-Elect of the Maryland/DC Chapter of ACDA and the Recording Secretary of the Maryland Choral Educators Association (MCEA).
He is an active choral, vocal, and sight-reading adjudicator and clinician. Banks is the CEO of OSB Music, LLC where he provides private voice lessons, music theory training, vocal health workshops, and more. He serves as the Executive Pastor of Gifted Church, Inc. Ocie is a passionate advocate for choral music at all levels and endeavors to always promote choral excellence in all that he does.
